Terms of use

Last updated: 2 October 2026

In plain words

The agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and the operator of Garble, Garble Studio, Example Street 1, 1010 Example City (“Garble”, “we”, “us”). They cover the Garble iPhone app and the game at garbl.app. By using either, you agree to these terms. Our privacy policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.

Using Garble

Your account

Garble Plus

Garble Plus is an optional subscription. It unlocks all premium packs, the daily archive and streak repair, and removes the watermark from reaction videos in the iPhone app. We may change what Plus includes over time.

Price and renewal

In the iPhone app

Plus is bought from Apple through the App Store and charged to your Apple ID. Manage or cancel it in your App Store settings (on iPhone: Settings, then your name, then Subscriptions) at least 24 hours before the current period ends to avoid being charged for the next one. Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under its own policies.

On the web

Where Plus is sold at garbl.app, it’s sold through a checkout run by our payment partners: RevenueCat, with Stripe processing the payment. You need to be signed in to buy, so that Plus belongs to your account. A web subscription also renews until you cancel, and you can cancel at any time. For help managing, cancelling or getting a refund for a web subscription, email support@garbl.app.

Plus follows your account

When you’re signed in, Plus comes with you to your other devices, including the web where Plus is available there. Some features depend on the platform; for example, reaction videos exist only in the iPhone app.

Nothing in these terms affects your rights under consumer protection law.

Garbles you send

You’re responsible for what you record, the phrase you add, your display name, and who you send a garble to. Only send garbles you have the right to share. Don’t send anything that:

Anyone who has a garble’s link can play it, and we can’t take back copies other people make, such as screen recordings.

We don’t review garbles before they’re sent. We may remove any garble or disable its link, and suspend or close an account, if we believe it breaks these terms or the law, or to protect someone. To report a garble, email us its link at support@garbl.app.

Your content and our licence

You keep ownership of your recordings, the phrases you type and your display name.

When you send a garble, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, copy, process (including reversing and converting the audio), transmit and display it, only to run Garble: to host it, deliver it to anyone with its link, show it back to you in your inbox, and sync it with your progress. The licence ends when you delete your account, except for copies that take time to clear from caches and backups.

Reaction videos stay on your device, and we don’t receive them. If you share one, that’s between you and the place you share it. Reaction videos made without Plus carry a Garble watermark.

Our content

The Garble app and website, its packs, daily puzzles, audio, artwork, name and logo belong to us or to our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use them to play Garble. Please don’t:

Some parts of Garble, such as open-source fonts and libraries, come with their own licences.

Changes to Garble

Garble keeps changing. We may add, change or remove features, packs and puzzles, and we may suspend or stop the service. If we stop Garble altogether, we’ll give reasonable notice where we can.

Disclaimers

Garble is provided “as is” and “as available”. As far as the law allows, we don’t promise that Garble will always be available or free of errors, that it will work with every device, browser or microphone, or that a garble will reach the person you send it to. Progress kept only on a device can be lost, for example if a browser clears its storage while you’re signed out, so please don’t rely on Garble to keep anything important.

Limits on liability

As far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or unforeseeable losses, or for lost data, profits or opportunities. Our total liability to you for any claim about Garble is limited to the amount you paid for Garble Plus in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, such as liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or takes away your rights as a consumer.

Ending these terms

You can stop using Garble at any time and delete your account in the app. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if the law requires us to. The parts of these terms that by their nature should continue, such as the disclaimers and limits on liability, still apply afterwards.

If you got Garble from the App Store

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the country where Garble Studio is registered. If you use Garble as a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring claims in your local courts.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we’ll change the date at the top, and for significant changes we’ll let you know before they take effect. If you keep using Garble after that, the updated terms apply. If you don’t agree with them, stop using Garble and delete your account.
